Hi All. Hope you are keeping well. My name is Harpreet and I will be your tutor for this module. I apologise for not connecting with you all sooner, my mother fell ill and I had to take some unexpected leave. However I am back and very very excited to be here with you all on this journey. So a little about my professional background. I am a pharmacist by ‘trade’. I started work in community pharmacy and moved into hospital as soon as I qualified. I worked in various hospitals, set up and ran clinics. This led me to some industry consultancy work on medication safety and teaching tools. The ‘teaching’ is where I felt at home as I am a ‘nerd’ at heart and love all things pharmacology and prescribing. I have spent the last decade pursuing this aspect of my career as the prescribing lead (MBBS) preparing medics for the national prescribing exam and life as a prescriber. My clinical work has predominantly been in high risk medicines. The more complex the clinical case and drugs: the better! …and I am here to guide, enable and empower you on your journey to becoming a prescriber.
